Senator Ted Cruz

07-15-14

My BFF Nona Ellington's (http://www.eaglesrestoration.com) testimony was used in Senator Ted Cruz's speech that he gave on July 15, 2014 before the United States Senate Judiciary Committee regarding S.1696 (which could prohibit most if not all abortion regulation currently in effect). Her story about how her abortion hurt her starts at the 6:00 marker.

Join pro-life Governor Rick Perry and thousands of Texans at the Texas Rally for Life on Saturday, January 26, at the Capitol in Austin. Show the media and our elected officials that Texas is PRO-LIFE!

The 2013 Texas Rally for Life will commemorate the 40th anniversary of the tragic Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision in 1973, which made abortion legal throughout all nine months of pregnancy. In the wake of Roe, legal abortion in our nation has claimed the lives of more than 55 million unborn children and has hurt countless women and men.

21-Day Trek for Life

On March 17 - April 6, 2012, 39 young women -- each representing one year of legalized abortion in America -- will set out to walk nearly 250 miles of open road for a 21-day trek from the nation's largest Planned Parenthood center, located in Houston, Texas to the courthouse in Dallas where Roe v Wade was born.

A Young Woman's Account

They will leave everything behind to embark on this symbolic journey depicting America's tragic path of abortion, taking a radical stand for life as they share their personal stories of how abortion has impacted each of their lives. During this prayer journey, a video documentary team with an internet channel will stream the walk live, daily featuring a young woman's account of how abortion has affected her life. Some of these women are post-abortive, some are survivors of abortion; others are those who have been stirred by this national calamity and have come to walk for life because of their passion for the issue. Together, these women represent the stand for life in the midst of a culture of death.

A Post Roe v Wade Generation

A purposeful and sacrificial pilgrimage, this prayer walk will create more than cognizance of an entire generation who has not known life without the devastation of abortion. It will summon thousands of hearts across the nation to rally together so that these young voices will be heard.

This Generation's Declaration

It will enable these women, whose voice is the most powerful in this social and ethical power struggle, to confidently and compellingly express what is really only their's to declare: The young women of America want our nation to get BACK TO LIFE.

How to Avoid the Holiday Blues

by Lorie Johnson, CBN News Medical Reporter

The time between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day is steeped in unrealistic expectations. We are bombarded in the media with images of lavish gift-giving that can induce feelings of financial inferiority. We hear people talking about warm and loving family gatherings that can make the pain of our own dysfunctional relationships even more acutely painful. And when you add all the cooking, shopping, and entertaining associated with the holidays to the already hectic schedules we lead, it can leave us with feelings of failure at our inability to get everything done.

So if you are not experiencing the joy of the holiday season, at least take comfort in knowing that you are not alone. Better yet, with a little know-how, you can avoid the pitfalls that ruin our holidays and experience them in the way God intended - with joy, peace and thanksgiving.

- Make a budget for gifts, travel, food, and donations. This will prevent the stress of out-of-control spending.

- Schedule tasks like holiday baking and shopping so you don't have to worry about when you will do it.

- Volunteer at a church, hospital, nursing home, anywhere that allows you to help someone else. This is a sure-fire way to lift your mood.

- Arrange well in advance time to get together with other people so you won't be caught alone. Isolation can lead to depression. If you can't be around your loved ones, try the next best thing, such as sharing pictures, emails, social networking or videos.

- Exercise. The longer and harder you work out, the more endorphins your body releases. So even though a slow short walk is light years ahead of sitting on the couch watching television, challenge yourself to kick it up a notch. Endorphins are neurotransmitters that have euphoric and pain relieving properties similar to morphine!

- Eat healthy food. The more you over-indulge the worse you will feel about yourself. Before any gathering that will involve lots of fattening food, try drinking lots of water and eating veggies, like a salad, or at the very least a healthy meal, so you'll be too full to pig-out at the party.

- Get your eight hours. Lack of sleep makes us eat more, but also leads to depressed mood.

- I saved the best for last: PRAY. Spend time with the Lord. By the power of the Holy Spirit you can have the self-control and wisdom to focus on the true meaning of the holidays: giving thanks, celebrating the birth of our Savior, and the promise of a new year.

Through prayer, Jesus fills us with the peace and love we crave and the strength to share it with others.

So above all, slow down, and take time to rest in the Lord this holiday season.

'Muslim Mafia' Target
ing Religious Freedom?

December 23, 2011

by John Jessup CBN News Washington Correspondent

WASHINGTON -- Free speech and religious liberty are two of America's most cherished protections. But if the Organization of Islamic Cooperation gets its way, that could change not only in the United States, but around the world.

The Muslim group is pushing a United Nations resolution that would criminalize criticism of religions.

Speaking at a recent international religious conference intended to advance the resolution, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton tried to convey that freedom of religion and expression go hand-in-hand.

"There is no contradiction between having strong religious beliefs and having the freedom to exercise them, and to speak about them and to even have a good debate with others," she said.

Frank Gaffney, president of the American Center for Security Policy, didn't mince words against the group -- likening the OIC to a "multi-national Muslim mafia."

"It is 57 states and Palestine that have come together to promote what is fundamentally the agenda that is known as Sharia," he explained.

Religious rights groups say the U.N. resolution is really designed to prevent criticism of Islam and give cover to Islamic Sharia-based blasphemy laws like those in Pakistan.

"The countries pushing this resolution -- their populations are 90-99 percent one single religious group," said Jordan Sekulow, director of policy and international operations for the American Center for Law and Justice. "What is the problem here with the 1 percent speaking out and why is that such an issue that needs to be handled at the international level?"

Asia Bibi, a Christian mother of two, has been sentenced to death under Pakistan's blasphemy laws. And public officials in the country who have spoken out against the laws have been killed.

The OIC eventually dropped the defamation effort in favor of U.N. Resolution 16/18. But some believe the measure could also be used to introduce blasphemy laws in Europe and the United States.

"They are asking the West to enforce criminal punishments for blasphemy against Islam within Western borders against their own citizens," explained Nina Shea, author of Silenced: How Apostasy and Blasphemy Codes are Choking Freedom Worldwide.

"And the frightening thing is we're starting to see this actually be adopted in places like Western Europe, Canada and Australia," she told CBN News.

Sekulow says his organization is fighting to keep the resolution from becoming adopted because it could backfire and be broadly misinterpreted country by country.

"Just the building of churches ... having a cross outside your door can be inciting violence," Sekulow explained.

"So if you let them define these definitions when there is no problem coming from the minority faiths, this is somehow going to 'green light' their suppression," he added.

Cancer Center bans all Christian symbols of Christmas

"No Nativity scenes" - Hollings Cancer Center spokeswoman Vicky Agnew

November 17, 2011

A South Carolina cancer center that gave Santa Claus the boot has reversed its decision, but said they will ban any Christmas decorations that are religious in nature - including the Nativity.

The Hollings Cancer Center in Charleston, SC, created a firestorm of yuletide controversy after they told a volunteer that he would not be allowed to dress up as Santa Claus, according to FoxNews.

Their Santa ban lasted about two days before they reversed course. "Perhaps we stumbled here," Hollings spokeswoman Vicky Agnew said. "We are very well aware that Santa is not a religious figure, but we are a state institution and we wanted to tone down the overt commercial and any religious aspects to it."

Did you catch that? A cancer treatment center wants to "tone down" any religious aspects of Christmas!

So Santa gets a reprieve - but religious-themed Christmas decorations do not.

"That still stands," Agnew said. "We've got a diverse population here and a lot of folks celebrate the season differently – or don't celebrate it."

Hollings will not allow any religious symbols - at all.

"No Nativity scenes," Agnew said.

TAKE ACTION

Contact Hollings Cancer Center Director, Dr. Andrew Kraft and urge him to reverse the center's anti-Christmas, anti-Christian policy banning religious symbols, especially during the Christmas season.

Governor Rick Perry

'The Response'

August 6, 2011

Governor Rick Perry's prayer during 'The Response' - A Call to Prayer for a Nation in Crisis

"Lord, You are the source of every good thing, You are our only hope. And we stand before You today in awe of your power, and in gratitude for Your blessings; in humility for our sins.

Father, our heart breaks for America. We see discord at home. We see fear in the marketplace. We see anger in the halls of government. And as a nation we have forgotten Who made us, Who protects us, Who blesses us, and for that we cry out for Your forgiveness.

We pray for our nation’s leaders, Lord -- for parents, for pastors, for the generals, for governors -- that You would inspire them in these difficult times. Father, we pray for our president, that You would impart Your wisdom upon him, that You would guard his family. We pray for our military and the families who love them. Father, especially for those special operators who lost their life yesterday in defending our freedoms.

You call us to repent, Lord, and this day is our response. We give it all to You. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen and amen."

Atheists Sue Texas Governor Over Prayer Event

The Wisconsin-based Freedom from Religion Foundation (FFRF) on Thursday filed a federal lawsuit against Gov. Rick Perry of Texas for calling the nation to prayer and fasting. Proclamations calling for prayer date back to President George Washington.

The suit asks the court to declare as unconstitutional Perry’s proclamation and involvement in “The Response,” an Aug. 6 privately organized — but open to the public — prayer event to be held at Reliant Stadium in Houston. Thousands of people have already registered.

FFRF says it finds egregious that the prayer rally “is intended for evangelical Christians,” that FFRF’s plaintiffs “have each been exposed to promotions of the Christian prayer rally …(and) are excluded from intended attendance,” and that the governor exhorted people “to participate in the religious practice of prayer, particularly Christian prayer.

Perry’s open letter on TheResponseUSA.com states, “(A)s a nation, we must come together and call upon Jesus to guide us through unprecedented struggles, and thank Him for the blessings of freedom we so richly enjoy.”

De-funding Planned Parenthood

Planned Parenthood is an abortion mega-provider whose anti-life operations are subsidized by your tax money.

It's hard to fully appreciate just how entangled Planned Parenthood has become with your tax dollars. But to illustrate the problem, and how to solve it, we've prepared a video strategy briefing exclusively for our email subscribers.

Click here to watch AUL Action's exclusive video strategy briefing on de-funding Planned Parenthood once and for all.

The complete presentation is brief, only a few minutes, and it's detailed – just what you need to know to be fully knowledgeable about the problem and what we can do to solve it.

There can be no doubt about it – we must de-fund Planned Parenthood immediately by getting our government, and your tax dollars, out of the abortion business once and for all.

Planned Parenthood's President, Cecile Richards, is on the record stating that the pro-life cause is gaining ground. In a recent letter to her supporters she said, "...today our opponents have more power in Congress and state legislatures than they have had in a long time. And they are determined to use that power to shut down Planned Parenthood."
